As for the chat speak. . that example kind of hurt to read, yeah.
I also can't stand it when people forget that periods are not optional and write paragraphs of text which looks like one long sentence. I usually end up holding my breath while trying to read it, which makes my head feel funny. XD

actually, i proof-read everything i write, but that's because english is not my native language.

I personally use firefox with a spell checker because I am in fact a deplorable speller with a love of ridiculously long words.

I know, exactly. I don't have the attention span to read huge fifteen-line paragraphs that consist of two run-on sentences.

When it comes to forum posts, I'm all picky about how I write. Maybe it's an OCD thing, but if I happen to read over my post and notice a missing period or similar... well, I feel really squirmy about it and have to fix it ASAP. Not to say that I'm a nazi about it and point things out in posts that aren't mine.

Proper spelling is why i like forum communication more then instant messenger. Anyone on here who's IM'ed me can probably vouch for how horrendous i can be without a spell check afoot. So yeah, if your posts are as bad as what i throw out over IM conversations, you just might be breaking that rule

I review fanfiction, and I squirm when I read a piece of work littered with spelling mistakes and bad grammar. It's simply one of my pet hates; at least run a spell-check before putting it on a writing website. Although I'm generally good with my spelling, I still run my work through a spell-checker (it's actually one of the FFdotnet rules).

One girl even wrote her summaries and titles in capital letters and bad spelling. Oh, my eyes.

Read and acknowledged. I am a member of the horrid spellers club, so I try to use the spell check though sometimes it doesn't like to work. More often though I am reduced to using just the words that I know how to spell correctly.
