Okay, okay, I have a question. I wasn't quite sure about this, though I did read through all the topic-related posts (I skipped over the offensive-not offensive stuff). I'm intensely interested in psychology and this topic is really fuzzy, so I'm just trying to clarify. Would creating or waking up parts of one person make someone a multiple.

Example: someone who was going through a tough time in his/her life created another person to front for some situations or to talk to mentally/provide a confidant count as a multiple? Or, would accidentally "waking up" this kind of personality also count as a multiple?

If the two can function as separate people, have separate worldviews, different personalities and opinons, is that person a multiple?

Yes, yes, and yes.

Bumping to point out that I updated the information on places to learn more. LJ-multiplicity has gotten pretty drama-tastic. The mods are looking for ways to tackle that problem but at least for now we feel it merits a warning and the substitution of a smaller, lower-traffic, but thus far flame-free DW community as our personal recommendation.

I just tried to join DW, but every code I found had already been used. Aside from giving them money, is there any other way to join?

We have codes; we just can't give them to everyone forever. ^_- I'll send you one.
